Typhoon Hagupit, the tally so far: eight dead in the Philippines; locally, sixty injured, three seriously; flights cancelled or delayed; almost everything closed; fallen scaffolding, flooding in the usual places; 100,000 evacuated along the South China coast; Vietnam next.

Hong Kong Observatory raised the Number 8 at 6pm. At that hour Typhoon Hagupit was about 210 kilometres south-southeast of a little island in the South China Sea.
The "big wind" is forecast to move west or west-northwest and make landfall on the south China coast.
That's to say, well to the west of a little island in the South China Sea.
Hagupit's outer rainbands and strong winds are already upon the island. Gale force winds and heavy rains to come.
Stay safe!

Stevie Wonder and his band play harsher, harder and louder live on Sesame Street. As someone else said, it doesn't get much better than this. Enjoy!
